Description

Exploratory Lithography with Christopher Hagen

This introductory course focuses upon the basics of aluminium plate lithography and contemporary variations. Though traditional litho is often considered a technically demanding method, it is a versatile medium capable of detailed pencil-like marks and bold washes. Its principles have given rise to simplified, highly accessible forms such as polyester plate, aluminum foil "kitchen litho", and mokulito "wood litho". A working knowledge of these techniques will allow students to work in a range of studios and their homes, some without a press. This four-day course serves as a chance to see whether litho suits their practice, or as a sneak peek into the semester class.

Monday 10 July –  Thursday 13 July,   6.30 –  9.30pm (4 evenings).
