Introductory Silversmithing with Renata Fojtikova is aimed at those interested in learning core jewellery making skills and it is a great introduction to key jewellery design concepts and processes. The techniques you will explore include piercing, sawing, filing, drilling, shaping, annealing, soldering and polishing. Various ways of texturing metal will also be discussed. You will learn how to create many different types of jewels, such as earrings, rings, bangles, chains, charms and pendants. We will start with creating simple designs in copper/brass and gradually introduce sterling silver and more advanced techniques such as changing making and stone setting. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as for creatives wishing to reinforce their existing metal working skills.
