Ceramics 2 with Peter Biddulph develops the students’ skills in hand building, wheel throwing and slip casting. Students are shown how to create plaster moulds from the forms they construct to create a series of original slip cast vessels or sculptural objects. The styles and techniques of international ceramic artists are discussed, including construction methods and surface techniques, which are demonstrated and practiced in the studio. The entire ceramic process of construction using different types of clay, use of tools, decoration, glazing and firing are practiced with printed materials and online resources for support. Individual development is encouraged and supported through observation and exploration and discussion with the tutor. Professional practice including, documenting work, applying to exhibit, web presence and marketing are also featured in the course.
