Description

Introduction to Enamelling with Catherine Large - Students will be introduced to enamelling and all it involves, enabling them to experiment and create colourful objects and jewellery with vitreous enamel. While emphasis will be on kiln fired enamelling, use of the gas torch to fire enamel will also be introduced. Techniques including sifting, layering, wet-packing, cloisonné, stencilling and sgraffito and more will be covered in the course. Students will be taught basic silversmithing skills such as cutting, filing, drilling and riveting to be able to turn their enamel work into wearable jewellery. This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Upon completion of this course it is anticipated the students will have some finished works.
