Introduction to Wax Carving & Casting with Renata Fojtikova - Discover the beauty of wax carving and make wonderful jewellery and small objects. This course is a great way of exploring the process of making wax models for lost wax casting. Students will discover the many types of waxes commonly used for carving and pouring wax models used for casting silver jewellery. With this knowledge under your belt you will then be guided through the world of uniquely organic textures, shapes and forms. Whilst doing so you will learn how to use all core wax carving tools. In addition to this you will learn how to create simple silicone moulds for creating multiple models of the same shape. You will also be introduced to core stone setting techniques and casting with stones. To conclude we will look at alternative ways of casting precious metals using charcoal, water and straw. This course is suitable for beginners as well as for experienced makers. All ages from 12yrs up are welcome.
