Introduction to Drawing with Glen Skien will explore a blend of objective and subjective approaches to drawing that references collage and mixed media practices. Students will be instructed in the Slade Art School technique of measure drawing as a platform for exploring still life through a range of mediums including graphite, charcoal, ink, and paint. Dr. Glen Skien is a former associate lecturer and former convener of the Introduction to Drawing program at Griffith University Queensland College of Arts. As an artist/printmaker Glen relocated from Mackay to Brisbane in 2007 to complete both his masters and doctorate and presently conducts workshops throughout south-east Queensland and regional Australia.
