Sumi-e Ink Painting: Flowers in Coloured Ink with Yumiko Kigoshi - Ink painting is one of the well- known traditional arts in Asia to express everything using just ink (mainly black ink), paper and water. Ink painting is an art that uses various techniques and makes the most of negative spaces to stimulate the imagination of the audience. Ink painting originated in China and was introduced to Japan during the 11th and 12th century. In Japan the art was refined to encapsulate the Japanese sense of beauty. In this workshop you will learn to paint traditional subjects such as Bamboo, Orchid, Plum and Chrysanthemum.
