This course with Dianne Peach, will suit those ceramic makers who want to be more involved in firing their work, plus those who just love firing. Students will participate in building and firing a variety of kilns, using a range of fuels, (electricity included), so they know how they work, and how to vary construction to suit particular size or other requirements. Kilns will be made from bricks, metal, ceramic fibre, clay, or from the earth itself. Making useful materials and equipment will be included, such as insulating bricks, base shelves, props, saggars, etc. Students will be required to make or bring items to glaze and fire in the kilns as time in class for making may be limited.
Please check the short course materials list for your class.
