Collagraphs with Kay Watanabe
In this weekend workshop, participants will learn how to make collagraph prints. This low toxic technique does not require harsh chemicals when creating a plate, which can be made at home using materials easily available. Once you’ve learned the basics, complex designs are possible, as are its uses in painting and mixed media. You will learn to make plates from cardboard, glued paper, string and other materials, the surface of which are then scratched, peeled and carved. The plate will then be printed using intaglio and/or relief methods. Chine-colle and colour roll ups methods may also be explored. Suitable for both beginners and printmakers with some experience.
