Material Thinking: The Printed Garment with Glen Skien
As a vehicle for exploring concepts of historical, social and personal stories, clothing and garments have the capacity to evoke a range of meaningful narratives. Using an item of clothing or the remnants of any fabric material, together with a series of laser printed photographic images, participants will explore the various techniques of monotype printing in connection with collage. Participants will be shown techniques in monotype, collage and photographic transfer as a means of taking their chosen item of clothing through a series of transformations to be bound in book form.
