This nine‑week beginner course with Stephen Newton builds confidence in drawing from 3D objects and photographs, progressing from simple subjects to your own chosen imagery. You’ll develop core skills in line, shading, tone, and creating smooth light‑to‑dark transitions that give forms depth. The course then introduces colour tonal values, composition, and perspective by simplifying subjects into basic shapes. Stephen guides you through a wide range of materials—graphite, coloured and watercolour pencils, pastels, charcoal, ink—and shows how different papers and surface preparation affect results. In the final weeks, you’ll create a finished artwork using your preferred subject matter and materials.
