This course with Clare Purser is mostly studio based but will incorporate 5 plein air painting sessions at locations agreed upon by everyone in the group. We will look at ways of finding inspiration in the landscape using visual material gathered from our plein air sessions, drawings, photographic sources and research. Exercises will focus on drawing and expanding your mark-making vocabulary, creating strong compositions, colour mixing for vibrancy and creating depth by layering mixed media (ink, watercolour, drawing, collage and painting. By the end of this course, you will have learnt how interacting with a landscape through plein air painting, drawing and research can build depth in your work and resonate through to your finished studio paintings.
