Description

In this workshop with Dennis Magee, participants will explore carving techniques on a plaster panel. They can also explore modelling with clay to create a similar relief work. This will be used to create a flexible mould that can be used to cast the original in various materials for both interior and outdoor settings. including coloured plaster cement fondue, paper, wax and clay. Participants will explore carving or modelling using the interplay of light and texture on a surface that conveys the illusion of space and depth through elements such as perspective, overlapping and volume.  Participants will learn how to take a mould from the original work so that multiples can be produced. You can work with simple geometric forms, or you could explore such things as knots, flora, overlapping shapes, more figurative pictorial images or something you want to develop from one of your paintings or drawings.
