This workshop with Clare Purser, will focus on combining painting and mixed media to construct a landscape. We will explore how paintings can be layered by using painting, drawing, experimental mark making, collage and glazing to create images with depth and meaning. Through a series of experimental exercises, we will explore a range of mixed media, including acrylic paint, dry media, gelli prints and collage. We will explore a range of exercises to loosen up, followed by longer studies on a variety of collaged surfaces. This workshop will give you confidence to experiment with different paint methods and learn how different surfaces can inspire you to try different approaches. Please bring 5–6 landscape photos that inspire you - printed or displayed on a laptop or tablet - as your personal reference material.
